Founded in Portland, Oregon in 2011, Tyranny of Hours have been forging epic metal symphonies and bringing them to stages around the Pacific Northwest.

Featuring the soaring vocals of Michelle Mattair, the band sets complex rhythms, melodic passages and haunting soundscapes against epic themes and lyrics.

Their self titled debut album was released in 2013 to critical acclaim, both regionally and internationally. The band set out to create a live stage show that could reflect the cinematic atmosphere and intensity of the music, including perfectly syncronizing an intelligent light show to every performance.

The band quickly established itself as a head- lining act at a number of regional venues and was the only metal band selected to perform at the first annual MOGO festival in 2015.

With the release of their second full length album – Darkling – on June 1 2018, Tyranny of Hours looks to take their adventure to the next chapter.

Reviews and Quotes.

“ There is a lot of talent in the PNW, but one thing’s for sure, nothing quite as original as this in the hard progressive metal department.” – Music Street Journal

Melodic Hard Rock Today – “An excellent debut from Tyranny Of Hours, and I really look forward to following this new band in the years to come!! So people get out there and check them out, they are really outstanding!!! 100/100”

Sorrow Eternal Magazine – “their amount of passion on this album is unmatched. Epica’s, Xandria’s, and Nightwish’s debut albums weren’t nearly this good. It sounds like a band in their prime, rather than a band starting out”…..”There is no doubt that this is one of the best debut albums in eons.”

FemmeMetal WebZine – “With their debut, Tyranny of Hours is a band that is quite focused and has the ability to stand out from a rather crowded pack of good symphonic, progressive metal bands. Overall, I was hugely impressed with Tyranny of Hours and can’t wait to hear more from them in the future.” – Rating – 93/100
